Auto Insurance Coverage Extras
Erie Insurance’s auto insurance coverage extras go above and beyond standard coverage by providing you and your family with more than 30 features at no additional charge or premium.
Transportation Expenses
Included with Comprehensive Coverage and optional with Collision Coverage (included in Virginia), ERIE’s auto insurance policy covers your transportation expenses immediately after an accident or covered loss if the vehicle can’t be driven, with no deductible. (In North Carolina, restrictions apply with Comprehensive Coverage. Transportation expenses are only covered with vehicle theft claims.) If the vehicle is drivable, payment could start the day you leave the auto at the garage for repairs. Examples of covered expenses include auto rental fees and bus or taxi fares.
With Comprehensive Coverage, Erie Insurance will pay up to $20 per day ($900 limit per loss, $600 in Virginia; and in North Carolina, it is $15 per day, $450 per loss for vehicle theft claims only). Higher optional limits are available for purchase.
Additional Payments
If physical damage coverage is purchased, Erie Insurance will pay:
- Up to $75 per person for travel costs, including meals and lodging, because you were unable to reach your destination as a result of a covered loss. (not applicable in North Carolina).
- Up to $350 for loss to personal property, such as clothing and luggage, because of a covered loss while the personal property is in an auto we insure. (Restrictions apply in North Carolina; up to $100 for personal effects.)
- Up to $50 for costs incurred for locksmith services if keys are accidentally locked in the insured auto. (Not applicable in North Carolina; this coverage is sold under a separate Towing & Labor endorsement as optional coverage added to your policy)
Other Extras
Under this coverage, Erie Insurance will also:
- Waive your comprehensive deductible when a damaged windshield is repaired rather than replaced. (Additional premium required for full window glass coverage in New York and Illinois.)
- Waive the collision deductible in the event of an accident between two autos insured by Erie Insurance (not applicable in North Carolina), or if the driver of an auto not insured by Erie Insurance is solely liable and carries adequate liability insurance. (Damage to the insured vehicle must be greater than the deductible.)
- Pay reasonable expenses for first aid relief to other persons and others’ animals at the time of an accident.
